St Philip Neri in the 16th century would gather those each day who were desirous of seeking Christian perfection. He would read from a spiritual book and then discourse on the meaning of what was read. This podcast (and the nightly prayer group from which it springs) seeks to carry on St Philip’s method of helping people become holy, even saints, in their own homes.

What are some of the best means of growing in intimacy with our Creator?
Learning to love solitude. In this episode's reading, Thomas a Kempis stresses the need to love being along with Jesus. Once again he is first and foremost talking to monks and priests. But he lays down principles that are crucial for all those who want to live in greater familiarity with the Lord. What is clear is that this chapter is the fruit of experience. When he speaks of the remorse and regret for forgetting about God"s will and just trying to have a good time, his words suggest that Thomas a Kempis is writing from what he knows first hand. He is passing on to us what he had learned about the best use of one"s time.
