St Philip Neri in the 16th century would gather those each day who were desirous of seeking Christian perfection. He would read from a spiritual book and then discourse on the meaning of what was read. This podcast (and the nightly prayer group from which it springs) seeks to carry on St Philip’s method of helping people become holy, even saints, in their own homes.

We read about the need to despise worldly honours. Such honours are meant to recognize human excellence. Honours are not bad in themselves. But Thomas a Kempis is urging us onto holiness. He wants us to view all honours of this life in light of God. If we are to be honoured, how much more must God be honoured? If I want real appreciation, I must find it in God.
